Pacu Kude
Pacu Kude could be interpreted, as sitting on the running
horse or as horse racing. The game is from Aceh Tengah district.
It is because in this district we can find a large plain and
here horse is a very pratical transportation in a mountainous
area, instead used to plough the rice filed.
After the harvest time,
these horses do not have any important activities. At that time,
these horses will running round in-group. The game Pacu Kude is
developed from this habit.
At the beginning, the
game was an informal game without strict rules. But then the
game was up grade into an official and formal game with rules to
obey. Finally, on August 1930 pacu kude competition was
officially held to celebrate the birthday of the queen of
Nederland, Welhilmina. At present, pacu kude is held to
celebrate the independence day of Indonesia, Some of the rules
in this game are the jockey must be a man aged 12-20 and not
more then 40 kg in weight.
